Measuring Manually
This option is used by manually measuring your nail beds with a soft measuring tape or by using the "tape method" to get your sizes. This option can have room for error.
Sizing Method Information
Sizing Kit
Ordering a sizing kit is the best and most accurate way to find your sizes. Measuring manually can often have a larger margin of error which can potentially result in you ordering the wrong sizes. With a sizing kit, you get actual nails to measure directly on your nail beds.
With your sizing kit you'll get 2 shape & length selections with your order rather than only one. Plus, our sizing kits come with free shipping to make the process easier for you!
Here is an example of what your sizing kit card will look like:
Some shape/length options do have extended sizing not shown on the sizing chart. The reason for this is to keep it simplified, especially for anyone manually measuring their nails. This extended sizing is only available for those ordering a sizing kit. If you get a sizing kit and find that some of your sizes fall in the extended offerings, simply select "custom" from the drop-down menu under "size" and type your sizes in the space provided when placing an order.
Current shapes/lengths with extended sizing:
-Extra Short: Almond, Coffin, Square
-Short: Almond, Square, Coffin
-Medium: Coffin, Stiletto
-Long: Stiletto
How to use your sizing kit:
Once you receive your sizing kit all you have to do is take the nails off the card and place them on your nail beds to see which size fits each finger best! Then you can record your sizes for each hand on the space provided to keep track.
You want to make sure that the nails fit comfortably from sidewall to sidewall without pressing too hard.
- If the nail doesn't fit without having to force it down or if there are gaps of your natural nail peeking through the sides, it's too small.
- If the nail overlaps onto your skin and off your natural nail when lightly pressing, it's too big.
Measuring Manually
Manually measuring is another way you can find your nail sizes. Please note that in choosing this method, it can have a larger margin of error which can result in potentially ordering the wrong sizes.
There are 2 different methods for manually measuring:
- Soft measuring tape method.
- Tape and ruler method.
Let's start with the soft measuring tape method.
With this method you will need a soft measuring tape to get your measurements.
- Using a soft measuring tape, lay the tape across the widest part of the nail bed and measure the distance from edge to edge of the nail in mm.
- Record your sizes for each nail.
Visual instructions are provided below:
Last, let's cover the tape & ruler method.
For this one you'll need clear tape (scotch tape) or a soft tape that will form to the nail (ex: masking tape or painters' tape). You'll also need a pen or marker to draw the lines on the tape. And lastly, you'll need a ruler that provides measurements in mm.
- Using a piece of clear tape or soft tape, place the tape over your nail bed making sure it's on evenly.
- Use a marker/pen to draw lines on each side of your nail. Get as close to the edge as you can.
- Remove the tape and lay on a flat surface. Using a ruler in mm measure the distance from line to line and record your sizes for each nail.
Visual instructions are provided below:
Once you have your measurements you can now match them up with your desired shape/length on the sizing chart to get your numerical sizing.
You can use standard pre-set sizes if you fit the measurements, or you can provide your custom sizes under the "custom sizing" option when ordering.
(You can always provide your sizes in mm when ordering as well if that is easier.)
